We are so happy to have your student in band with us at Memorial!  Please check out ALL of the reminders below for information on happenings in the band world -

Band Handbook & Calendar - Found on the links above

School Instrument Contracts -   All students using a school-owned instrument will be given a new check-out contract for this year during the first week of school.  Please return the form and maintenance fee (the fee is waived for students on free or reduced lunch) to school ASAP - checks should be made to MMS

6th Grade Students - Please bring instruments by Friday, Sept. 9

6th Grade Percussionists - Please read the attached letter for middle school stick bag requirements

6th Grade Lessons - All 6th grade band members will receive a 20-minute lesson during the school day every 2 weeks.  The lessons will have 1-3 students who play the same instrument.  I will change the schedule every quarter so students are not pulled from the same class.  We have the full support of the 6th grade core teachers and I am working with them to ensure the schedule serves the best interests of all students.  Please contact me if you have any questions regarding this beneficial program.

6th Grade Band Parent Meeting - We will have a meeting for ALL 6th grade band parents on Monday, September 12th at 7 p.m. in the MMS Auditorium.  At this short meeting, we will be giving important information on day-to-day procedures for students, required supplies, performances and other opportunities for band members.  There are a TON of great things happening in the band world at MMS and we want to start the year off on the same foot!

REMIND! - We will use the REMIND app for important band announcements such as concerts or changes in schedule.  Please text the following code to 81010 (Remind never reveals or shares your personal information)

6th Grade - @mms6thgr

7th Grade - @9968b

You will receive a confirmation text when signed up.

Electrify You Music - This will be the biggest student performance in South Dakota History!  All middle school musicians in SIoux Falls will perform a mass concert with Mark Wood and core members of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra at the Premier Center on Saturday, December 17th.  More specific information, including ticket info, coming soon!

All-City Honor Band - This director-nominated group will represent the best Sioux Falls has to offer.  I will be sending home information to students I would like to nominate during the first week of school.  https://sites.google.com/site/mcgovmus/honor-band
